New Grading, New Parent Video

Our district switched over to PowerSchool.

Parents will not see a grade when they log in, because we won't have a letter grade until the end of the marking period.

So... I created this video so parents can see all the feedback we're providing in ELA class!

Last year I made one for Edline, in case you use that and are trying to go with feedback only!

My "gradeless" resources so far: "FaR" tabs of our classroom Weebly
Feedback Instead of Grades LiveBinder for parents to inspect
My own reflections on this journey

  1. Wow, Joy, this is a shift! Do you think you were the inspiration behind this change? You must have been! Congratulations!!! Haven't read the book yet...but getting a book chat started in my school (didn't want to read it before my colleagues, you know, with this attitude like "I read this great book, you should too" but rather, "hey let's read together").

Hope you are having a great year!!!!

    1. Hi, Mary Lou! I'm the only one at my school (well... that I KNOW of....) going without grades until the end of the quarter. I was not at all the inspiration behind the change to PowerSchool, though. ;) Let me know if I can help in any way for your book study - it's always so interesting to get different viewpoints on it! Let's make this our best year YET!
